Maintenance & Launch Calendar

Overview

Schedule of website launch dates, maintenance windows, redirect update schedule, and blackout dates

Blackout Dates

In alignment with the template update schedule and other scheduled maintenance, each month, one week is a blackout week in which no website launches may occur. When selecting your launch date, avoid this planning for this week.

Scheduled Maintenance Windows

Sofware patches, security updates, network changes, and template updates are just a few of the reasons why maintenance windows are planned. To minimize website and application downtime, scheduled maintenance windows are planned which are used to queue work. During these windows, your website and/or application may experience downtime.

Redirect Rule Update Schedule

In order to reduce website downtime, and improve delivery/fulfillment timing and estimates, a standardized redirect update schedule has been established. All website URL redirect changes (add/modify/removal) will occur on the second or fourth Tuesday of each month. To request a redirect rule change, visit Redirect Request Form OR Vanity URL Request Form.

Website Launches

Multiple website resdesign projects are in process at all times. Once an agency has finished building content and performing quality assurance, they work with NIC to schedule a launch date. Each launch date is available in the calendar below, as well as the Website Project Status page on GovSpace.

The preferred days for websites launches are the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, as it aligns best with other scheduled work, resource availability, and the Redirect Rule Update Schedule.
